What is included in your Tax Preparation Software?
• Our software consists of both individual and business packages with all 50 state modules. We also include direct links to the IRS Help and Publication Files

What type of training does Smart Tax Services offer?
• We offer hands-on software training both in-house and remotely. Training can be done in either English or Spanish and is customized for each individual.

How do I become a Registered IRS E-Filer?
• You must obtain an EFIN to be able to process E-Files to the IRS.

What bank are you partnered with and what kind of incentives do they offer?
• We are partnered with Republic Bank; the fastest growing bank in this industry. They offer a variety of products that are discussed in more detail here.

What are the requirements to get an EFIN?

• The IRS requires you to be up to date with your taxes owed and have no criminal record. If you match this criteria you must then be fingerprinted and fill out a Form 8633.

Can you help me with the Marketing Materials for my office?
• Yes, through Republic Bank, we can offer you a wide variety of marketing materials in both English and Spanish.

What are your hours for customer support and how can I get in touch with them?
• Support is offered through out the tax season from 9am until 8pm Monday through Friday and 9am until 6pm Saturday and Sunday.

Are conversions available for my existing client base?
• Yes, we have Individual and Business Conversions.

 Individual Conversions:  Crosslinks (PETZ), Drake, IntellTax Classic (Orrtax), IntelliTax for Windows (Orrtax), Lacerte, ProSeries Basic, ProSeries Professional Edition (Intuit), ProSystemsfx (CCH), Saber (ATX), TaxACT, TaxSimple, TaxSlayer, TaxWorks and UltraTax (Creative Solutions).  Business Conversions: Drake, Lacerte, ProSeries Professional Edition (Intuit), ProSystemsfx (CCH), Saber (ATX), TaxWorks, UltraTax (Creative Solutions).

If I purchase TaxWise®, is there any previous years available?

• Yes, we will offer several past years’ software. Please contact our customer support for further details.

Can I use my EFIN at multiple locations or have multiple EFINs at my location?
• No, the IRS requires one EFIN per location.

How do I become certified by the IRS?
• New regulations for paid preparers will roll out in three phases:

  • Phase 1: Apply for or renew your PTIN. NOTE: You may also be required to e-file.
  • Phase 2: Pass a proficiency exam
  • Phase 3: Complete Continuing Education Credits

How many computers can I install the software on in my office?
• On a local area network you can install on infinite number of computers. As for a non-networked environment one computer can be installed

What are the Minimum System Requirements to install the software?

Workstation (stand-alone PC): Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000 SP4 or above.
Processor: Pentium III – 1 GHz; RAM: 1GB; Available Disk Space: 2GB; CD/DVD: 8x CD-ROM; Monitor Resolution: 800 x 600; Internet Connection: Yes; Printer: Any Windows PCL 5x Compatible Printer.

Networks: Microsoft Windows Vista Business, Ultimate or Enterprise. Windows XP Professional SP2 or above, Windows 2000 SP4 or above.

Database Server (Database Only Installation): Windows Vista, Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP Professional SP2 or above, Windows 2000 SP4 or above.
